Holistic Pain Management
It is estimated that about 50 million Americans live with chronic pain. The most common choice for people with chronic pain is going to pain clinics for relief of their symptoms. At pain clinics the most common approach is medication, whether pills or injections. At times, this approach may temporarily provide relief but it only masks the pain and does not correct the root cause of the problem. Our goal is to create awareness of Sports Chiropractic as a holistic approach to pain management. Sports Chiropractic is a combination of advanced soft tissue therapies (muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve and fascia), Chiropractic adjustments, nutritional guidance and therapeutic devices to help improve mobility, decrease pain and correct the cause of the problem.
In our office we see excellent results with non-surgical, non-medicinal techniques that fix the problem and do not have the side effects of medications. In fact, spinal manipulation has been shown to be as effective as traditional medical intervention1. Some of the more common side effects of pain medication is constipation, dizziness, light headedness, feeling faint, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and they are highly addictive. After a Sports Chiropractic treatment you are able to drive, work, exercise which are some of these things you are told not to do while on pain medication.
Frequency of visits
Some of our chronic pain patients come in for a visit as frequent as once a week to once every two months for reduction of their pain. For patients with chronic low back pain, it has been shown that 12 visits have the optimum results2. As we work with our patients, we learn how they respond and organize the treatment frequency according to their results. We offer a wide variety of non-surgical techniques and customize the treatment plan based on what is most effective for each individual person. We believe in a team approach and the use of a good pain management clinic can be a valuable asset to the progress of a chronic pain patient. However, when Sports Chiropractic is part of the pain management team we believe problems can get fixed and much more progress can be made.
