ENERGY LOSS – WHY AM I TIRED?

Energy Loss – Why am I tired?

Loss of energy can be a severe medical issue with many different possible causes. It can range from causes such as:

  • Anemia

  • Diabetes

  • Thyroid problems

  • Heart disease

  • Sleep apnea

  • Menopause

  • Manopause

  • Depression

  • Vitamin deficiency

  • Adrenal fatigue

It can also be from problems such as lack of sleep, lack of exercise and an insufficient diet. These problems are easier to correct than the problems listed above.

I would like to add to that list another possible reason to consider for your loss of energy and fatigue. Think about this, how tired would you be if someone asked you to contract your biceps muscle (arm) all day. It would not only make you extremely sore in that area but you would also be very fatigued from all of the energy you would have to put towards contracting that muscle.

Now think about this, how many muscles in your body are involuntarily overcontracted (tight) right now due to misuse, poor biomechanics, poor posture or overtraining in the gym? The answer is many. Many muscles are in a small chronic state of overcontraction which can rob you of your energy. It takes a lot of your body’s energy to constantly contract these tight muscles all day long.

If you feel that you are unnecessarily tired it is a great idea to have yourself assessed by a trusted and talented musculoskeletal therapist. At Sports Chiropractic, we have constantly heard people tell us that they feel much better after a treatment in our office. We have heard many patients tell us that after a visit they had the best sleep they have had in a long time. We also have heard that for the first time in a while people have had more energy to play with their kids after work and that they also feel more comfortable in their own body.

The purpose of this article is to make you aware that your own body can be robbing you of your energy. It is important to rule out any catastrophic reasons for fatigue that were mentioned but musculoskeletal dysfunction should not be overlooked as the source of your excessive fatigue and energy loss. It should be treated by a qualified musculoskeletal therapist who is trained in advanced soft tissue therapies and skeletal manipulation. If you need help we would be glad to provide you high quality therapy and service at Sports Chiropractic. If you need us to find you a provider close to you with similar credentials then please email me at DrToddRodman@aim.com I will help you locate someone.
